#CloseTheGap: Accelerate Post-pandemic Recovery through Social Justice”

The Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS) is designated to lead and coordinate the yearly observance of the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM).

This year’s DPRM theme underscores the COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate impacts that exacerbated existing socioeconomic disparities in the country. To address these inequalities and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable and marginalized groups to future shocks, and to ensure that no one is left behind as we move forward from this pandemic, it is crucial to make social justice a guiding principle of the country’s post-pandemic recovery plan, particularly in three areas: human capital development and social protection, public health services and infrastructure, and environmental resilience.

To kickstart the event, a virtual forum shall be conducted on September 1. Panelists include Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon of the National Economic and Development Authority, Assistant Secretary Romeo Balanquit of the Department of Budget and Management, Officer-in Charge Patrick Patriwirawan Jr. of the Department of Labor and Employment-Bureau of Local Employment, and members of the PIDS 2022 Annual Public Policy Conference Scientific Committee.

2021 CSIS National Briefing

While COVID-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions are still imposed in various parts of the country, it was a challenge for the CSO/PPPP Training Management Team to hold this event in the “new normal”. To ensure that the activity will be effective in showcasing the project developments as in its previously held face-to-face briefings, the PMO adapted the “training bubble” concept wherein RFPs are gathered in one training venue within their respective regions while attending the event virtually hosted by the training team.Show more

2021 CSIS Local Resource Institute (LRI) Training

Similar to how the National Briefing was held, the participants were held in one “training bubble” within their respective regions. The series of island cluster trainings for partner LRIs and RFPs started with the North Luzon followed by the other regions on the dates shown below. Show more

Seven (7) Service Areas

Service areas and indicators are heavily sourced from the Local Government Code of 1991 under Section 17. During the implementation of the CSIS in 2013-2016, a number of consultations with local functionaries and national government agencies have contributed in updating the different services deemed to be locally implemented. These different services serve as the bases of assessment of the respondents.
